First, determine whether or not your insurance provider will accept a claim for a binx purchase by contacting them directly and discussing your plan. The phone number for your plan can likely be found on your insurance card.
When discussing with your provider be sure to mention the following key points:
- All binx tests are clinician ordered.
- Depending on the specific STI you are being screened for, the binx at-home STI test gathers specimen via a blood prick, vaginal, anal, or throat swab, or urine test.
- The samples are analyzed by our partner laboratories which are certified by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) as well as accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP). As required, they also possess certain state laboratory licenses.
- Be sure to mention the specific STIs you were screened for.
If you learn that your plan includes out-of-network benefits or will otherwise allow you to self-file a claim, you can submit a reimbursement claim by following these simple steps:
- Fill out a subscriber claim form, likely available on your insurance provider’s website (try googling the name of your insurance provider + “self submit claim form”).
- Access your binx box receipt by going to ‘Orders’ under ‘My Account’
- Complete the form in full and send the required documentation to the address listed on the subscriber claim form, along with any additional materials requested. You may want to keep a copy for your records.
- Your insurance provider will review the claim and reimburse services based on the procedure code and your policy coverage, deductible, and any other relevant terms and conditions. Different plans cover different out-of-network costs. You’ll be notified in your insurance statement about whether or not the claim was accepted.
- Follow up directly with your insurance provider for any questions around coverage or benefits.
