Certain people are at higher risk of getting COVID-19 for a variety of reasons. Racial and ethnic minority groups have higher rates of COVID-19 because of social determinants of health that place them at higher risk. Similarly, people experiencing homelessness may be more likely to develop COVID-19 due to crowded conditions in shelters and decreased access to supplies such as hand sanitizer and masks. Other people may be at a higher risk due to physical conditions such being pregnant or immunocompromised.
