binx laboratory partners are certified by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) as well as accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP). As required, they also possess certain state laboratory licenses.

The Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA ‘88) are federal laws and regulations applicable to all U.S. facilities that test human specimens for health assessment or to diagnose, prevent, or treat disease. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in partnership with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Food and Drug Administration, supports the CLIA program and clinical laboratory quality.

In addition, binx’ reference laboratory partners are accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP). CAP releases its own requirements which may exceed CLIA ‘88 regulations. Compliance is assessed by a peer group site inspection every two years. Meeting these criteria ensures that industry specific standards for laboratory operation are upheld in the lab and can also point out areas for improvement. Because of its comprehensive nature, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has granted the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program the authority to inspect and accredit clinical laboratories.

binx is committed to laboratory quality. To ensure our partner labs are meeting the highest industry standards for clinical laboratory testing, binx may also, from time to time, conduct its own proficiency testing of our reference lab partners.
